Reason for the revision

The full-year forecast has been revised based on the difference between the interim-period earnings forecast and actual results. The shortfall against plan in the domestic eyewear business during the first half is viewed as a temporary factor, and signs of improvement have emerged recently. Accordingly, the forecast has been revised only to reflect first-half actual results, with the outlook for the second half unchanged.

Previous-period resultsInterim period: revenue of ¥44,832 million, operating profit of ¥5,155 million, ordinary profit of ¥5,221 million, interim net income attributable to owners of the parent of ¥3,785 million, and interim earnings per share of ¥162.17 (second quarter of the fiscal year ending August 2025). Full year: revenue of ¥97,215 million, operating profit of ¥12,093 million, ordinary profit of ¥12,121 million, net income attributable to owners of the parent of ¥8,330 million, and earnings per share of ¥356.89 (fiscal year ending August 2025).

The reasons the company gives

The company's own explanation, not something inferred from the numbers.

During the interim period, revenue in the domestic eyewear business fell short of forecast, mainly because sales of certain products were below the sales plan. In the overseas eyewear business, results exceeded forecast due to progress in business-structure reforms in China and accelerated store openings in Taiwan. Operating profit was below forecast despite efforts to reduce costs, primarily head-office expenses, in addition to the revenue shortfall. For the full year, the forecast reflects the difference between the interim-period forecast and actual results, while the outlook for the second half remains unchanged.
