The reasons the company gives
The company's own explanation, not something inferred from the numbers.Revenue increased as new store openings and product shipments to existing stores remained solid. Gross profit increased due to price pass-through and optimization of suppliers, while selling, general and administrative expenses increased owing to higher freight and warehouse rental costs associated with increased product shipments, as well as temporary outsourcing fees for sales and administrative operations related to a large-scale M&A transaction. Ordinary income was boosted by foreign exchange gains on forward exchange contracts, among other factors.
