The reasons the company gives
The company's own explanation, not something inferred from the numbers. In the tobacco business, pricing, resilient sales volumes and growth in Ploom volumes and market share contributed to higher revenue and profit. The foreign exchange impact from the appreciation of major currencies was also positive. Operating profit increased due to higher adjusted operating profit and lower amortization of intangible assets. In the processed foods business, the increase in revenue from pricing exceeded the rise in raw material costs.
