The reasons the company gives
The company's own explanation, not something inferred from the numbers.Net sales increased as core products continued to be well supported after the price revisions, along with the expansion of shelf-stable products. On the profit front, earnings declined due to the recognition of future costs, including higher raw material and energy costs, investments in new businesses and equipment, factory repairs, sales promotion initiatives, changes in estimates for asset retirement obligations, and an increase in the provision for bonuses. At the same time, the Company worked to contain costs by reducing overtime, streamlining its workforce, conserving energy and improving the efficiency of production planning.
