Factors Behind Changes in Business Performance

The domestic non-scallop-related business posted a slight decline in earnings, as the effect of price revisions was delayed relative to the rise in costs. The scallop-related business reported lower sales and earnings due to lower catches in Funka Bay and the delayed sales timing of frozen scallop adductor muscles. Overseas sales and earnings increased as a result of the benefits of starting consolidation and the recovery in sales. The sales business posted higher sales and earnings due to stronger sales to existing customers and the recovery in overseas sales.

The reasons the company gives

The company's own explanation, not something inferred from the numbers.

In addition to persistently high raw material and energy prices, logistics costs and labor costs, the time lag before the effects of price revisions became apparent, lower scallop catches and the delayed sales timing of products for overseas markets resulted in lower sales and earnings. Meanwhile, the recovery in overseas sales, the increase in revenue from the start of consolidation and stronger sales to existing customers contributed to higher sales and earnings. The Company recorded ¥880.488 million in compensation received as extraordinary income.
