Reason for the revision

Production costs increased more than anticipated due to the continued surge in raw material prices, mainly for naphtha-derived materials, resulting from the prolonged situation in the Middle East, as well as the continued depreciation of the yen and other factors. Although the company will work to improve profit through further cost reductions and selling price revisions for the full year, it is revising profit downward due to the impact of the revision to the interim-period forecast and expectations that raw material prices will remain elevated.

Previous-period resultsSecond quarter (interim period): net sales of ¥7,285 million, operating income of ¥430 million, ordinary income of ¥526 million, interim net income of ¥375 million, and interim net income per share of ¥54.03. Full year: net sales of ¥14,988 million, operating income of ¥143 million, ordinary income of ¥291 million, net income of ¥204 million, and net income per share of ¥29.41.

The reasons the company gives

The company's own explanation, not something inferred from the numbers.

Production costs increased more than anticipated due to soaring raw material prices, mainly for naphtha-derived materials, resulting from the prolonged situation in the Middle East, as well as the continued depreciation of the yen. For the full year, in addition to the impact of the revision to the interim-period forecast and expectations that raw material prices will remain elevated, the company says it will work to improve profit through cost reductions and selling price revisions.
