Factors Behind Changes in Business Performance

Dispensing pharmacy sales increased as the number of stores grew through M&A. Profit increased owing to improved profitability in the dispensing pharmacy business, contributions from existing and acquired stores, and lower selling, general and administrative expenses resulting from more efficient head-office operations. The retail business recorded lower revenue and profit due to the closure of unprofitable stores, new competitor openings, and weak sales of seasonal medicines. The medical mall management business was affected by the departure of medical institutions from some tenant locations, while the Other business was affected by a decline in the number of contracts concluded and visits, as well as depreciation and amortization expenses arising from new product development.
