The reasons the company gives
The company's own explanation, not something inferred from the numbers. In the dispensing pharmacy business, the number of prescriptions filled was below forecast due to longer prescription durations. However, revenue exceeded the forecast because of higher revenue per prescription and the consolidation of a subsidiary's results for 14 months following a change in its fiscal year-end. On the earnings side, results were affected by higher taxes and dues accompanying the increase in pharmaceutical sales, higher selling, general and administrative expenses due to M&A-related costs, shortfalls in the merchandising and other businesses, and higher financial expenses associated with financing for M&A activities.
