The reasons the company gives
The company's own explanation, not something inferred from the numbers. The company cited impairment losses in the Australian used-car and metallurgical coal businesses, among others, business disposal losses associated with restructuring, lower coal prices and weak production efficiency, and lower transaction volumes in the overseas fertilizer business as reasons for missing its plan and posting lower earnings for the fiscal year ended March 2026. For the fiscal year ending March 2027, the company expects improvements in loss-making businesses and earnings contributions from new investments.
