Reason for the revision

Interim sales of seasonal merchandise and other products remained sluggish due to unseasonable summer weather and other factors, leaving first-half net sales below plan. Meanwhile, SG&A expenses were kept under control through labor cost reductions from the introduction of semi-self-service checkouts, lower electricity consumption during the summer and lower utilities expenses following a review of contracts with power companies. As operating profit and ordinary profit were broadly in line with plan, the full-year net sales forecast was revised downward.

Previous-period resultsFiscal year ended March 2026: net sales of ¥284,492 million, operating profit of ¥6,779 million, ordinary profit of ¥7,897 million, net income attributable to owners of the parent of ¥3,200 million, and earnings per share of ¥143.30

The reasons the company gives

The company's own explanation, not something inferred from the numbers.

Interim net sales fell below plan as sales of seasonal merchandise remained sluggish due to unseasonable summer weather and other factors. In light of current conditions, the full-year net sales forecast was therefore lowered. Meanwhile, SG&A expenses were kept under control through the introduction of semi-self-service checkouts, labor cost reductions, lower electricity consumption during the summer and lower utilities expenses following a review of contracts with power companies, leaving profit broadly in line with plan.
