The reasons the company gives
The company's own explanation, not something inferred from the numbers. In the overseas beverage business, strong sales at the Turkish subsidiary contributed to higher profit. In the domestic beverage business, lower depreciation expense following the impairment loss recognized in the previous fiscal year and progress in profitability improvement initiatives also contributed to the increase. From the third quarter onward, however, the company expects higher costs, including raw material prices, due to the situation in the Middle East, as well as marketing investment to strengthen the brand in the Turkish beverage business.
