Factors Behind Changes in Business Performance

Revenue increased in the overseas beverage business due to growth in sales volume and sales value in the Turkish beverage business, while a decline in the number of operating vending machines in Japan, lower orders in the pharmaceutical-related business and lower sales volume in the food business reduced revenue. Operating profit increased due to lower depreciation and amortization following the impairment loss recognized in the previous fiscal year, cost controls resulting from profitability improvements, the positive effect of higher revenue in the overseas beverage business, and improvements in the product mix and production efficiency.

The reasons the company gives

The company's own explanation, not something inferred from the numbers.

The interim-period increase in profit was driven by higher revenue and expanded profitability in the overseas beverage business, centered on the Turkish beverage business, lower depreciation and amortization following the impairment loss recognized in the previous fiscal year, and measures to improve profitability in the domestic beverage business. The revisions to the full-year forecast incorporate rising costs due to the situation in the Middle East, marketing investment in Turkey, the continuation of profitability improvement measures in the domestic beverage business, and revised assumptions for Turkey's inflation rate and foreign exchange rates.
