The shaded area represents net assets as a proportion of total assets. It is calculated from the two amounts reported by the company.
The year-round contribution from Tier Hokkaido and increased sales from the expansion of the real estate business contributed to higher revenue, while the funeral business remained sluggish due in part to a reactionary decline following the increase in the number of funerals. Profit declined because of the higher proportion of fixed costs and increases in advertising and promotional expenses, personnel expenses, and expenses related to Tier Hokkaido.

The reasons the company gives
The company's own explanation, not something inferred from the numbers.Although the year-round contribution from Tier Hokkaido and the expansion of the real estate business increased revenue, the funeral business remained sluggish due in part to a reactionary decline following the increase in the number of funerals in the same period of the previous year. On the earnings side, fixed costs accounted for a larger proportion of expenses, while advertising and promotional expenses associated with sales promotion, personnel expenses resulting from revisions to the wage system, and expenses associated with the year-round contribution from Tier Hokkaido all increased.
