The reasons the company gives

The company's own explanation, not something inferred from the numbers.

Revenue benefited from new stores opened in the fiscal years ended August 2025 and August 2026, as well as same-store sales in both businesses exceeding the previous year. Operating income increased despite higher personnel expenses and amortization of asset retirement obligations, due to the effect of higher revenue and improvements in the food-material cost ratio, among other factors. Versus the plan, revenue and gross profit fell short because the number of new store openings was below target, while operating income exceeded the plan due to stronger-than-expected same-store sales and control of selling, general and administrative expenses.
