The reasons the company gives

The company's own explanation, not something inferred from the numbers.

Net sales increased as the IT Services Business and IoT-related Business performed steadily. Interim net income attributable to owners of the parent was affected by the reversal of the ¥529 million gain on sales of investment securities recorded in the year-earlier period, as well as a ¥207 million gain on step acquisitions associated with the consolidation of 善光総研 as a subsidiary and a ¥207 million impairment loss on goodwill. The impairment loss was an accounting treatment resulting from the share price rising after the decision to consolidate the company through a share delivery was announced, causing the fair value of the shares to be delivered to exceed the initial estimate. The company states that it was not attributable to a decline in 善光総研's business value or deterioration in its performance.
