Reason for the revision

Sales have been trending higher as a result of initiatives to increase penetration of core products. A review of the product mix and efforts to contain manufacturing costs have partially mitigated the impact of soaring raw material prices, and operating profit is therefore expected to exceed the plan. Revenue is expected to fall slightly short of the plan because sales of mochi products were restricted due to raw material availability.

The reasons the company gives

The company's own explanation, not something inferred from the numbers.

Sales have been trending higher, mainly for standard products, as a result of initiatives to increase penetration of core products. In addition, a review of the product mix and efforts to contain manufacturing costs have partially mitigated the cost increases caused by soaring raw material prices, and operating profit is therefore expected to exceed the plan. Sales of some products have been sluggish because sales of mochi products were restricted due to raw material availability, and revenue is expected to fall slightly short of the plan.
