The reasons the company gives
The company's own explanation, not something inferred from the numbers.Revenue declined mainly due to a decrease in the number of premium service members. Selling, general and administrative expenses decreased despite the recognition of one-time costs associated with workforce reductions at overseas locations, due mainly to lower personnel expenses resulting from the workforce reductions. Operating profit was affected by the decline in revenue, but the Company returned to profitability in the second quarter alone because no one-time costs associated with the workforce reductions were incurred and personnel expenses declined. Profit for the six-month period increased due to the recognition of financial income, including gains from the fair value measurement of securities held.
