The reasons the company gives
The company's own explanation, not something inferred from the numbers. In flour milling, product prices were reduced following a cut in the government selling price for imported wheat. In foods, product prices were raised; in barley processing, shipment volumes increased; and in feed, shipment volumes decreased and selling prices declined. The decrease in net income was due mainly to the impact of gains on sales of investment securities recorded in the same period of the previous year.
