The reasons the company gives
The company's own explanation, not something inferred from the numbers. The removal from consolidation of a subsidiary that had undergone a partial share transfer in the previous fiscal year, along with a decline in flour sales volumes, pushed revenue down. However, product price revisions to offset higher raw material prices, logistics costs and other expenses increased selling prices per unit, while solid performance at overseas subsidiaries and new store openings and improved profitability in the food-service business also contributed. Despite higher expenses from repairs and capital expenditures and the posting of extraordinary losses, operating profit and net income increased.
