The reasons the company gives
The company's own explanation, not something inferred from the numbers.Revenue increased mainly due to higher shipments resulting from the strengthening of the US production system in the overseas flour milling business and the impact of foreign currency translation. Although shipments increased in the overseas flour milling business and the yeast, health and biotechnology businesses, earnings were affected by lower sales in the prepared foods and deli business, the absence of the large-scale construction project recorded in the engineering business in the previous fiscal year, and cost increases resulting from the situation in the Middle East. Net income decreased mainly because gains on sales of cross-shareholdings were lower than in the previous fiscal year.
