「The Accounting Standard for Revenue Recognition (ASBJ Statement No. 29, 31 March 2020; hereinafter, the “Revenue Recognition Accounting Standard”) and other standards have been applied from the beginning of the first quarter of the current fiscal year. For construction contracts, the company previously applied the percentage-of-completion method when the outcome of the work in progress could be reliably determined. However, when control of goods or services is transferred to a customer over a specified period, the company has changed to a method of recognizing revenue over that period as it satisfies the performance obligation to transfer the goods or services to the customer.」
The Revenue Recognition Accounting Standard and other standards were applied from 1 April 2021, and the revenue recognition method for construction contracts was changed. Presentation was also changed for bills receivable, accounts receivable for completed construction and other items, as well as contract assets and contract liabilities, but there was no impact on the beginning balance of retained earnings or income for the first quarter of the current fiscal year.
