ZEB renovation of the Comprehensive Construction Technology Center

「Under BELS (Building Energy-Saving Performance Labeling System), the Research Center Building, formerly the Research Management Building, obtained ZEB certification, while the Research Management Building, formerly the General Laboratory Building, obtained ZEB Ready certification. The retrofit construction was completed in May 2024.」

「The planned ZEB retrofit will strengthen the insulation and solar shading performance of exterior walls and windows, introduce LED lighting and high-efficiency air-conditioning systems, and install energy-saving controls combining various sensors with a BEMS (Building Energy Management System), as well as solar power generation and battery storage facilities. Following the retrofit, each building is expected to achieve primary energy savings of at least 50% versus benchmark energy consumption. Under BELS, the Research Management Building is scheduled to obtain ZEB certification, while the General Laboratory Building is aiming for ZEB Ready certification.」
