The reasons the company gives
The company's own explanation, not something inferred from the numbers.Revenue increased due to steady progress on the substantial backlog of construction work in the domestic building, civil engineering and overseas civil engineering businesses, the inclusion of GCON, acquired in December of the previous year, in the consolidated results, and the sale of properties for sale in the real estate business. Operating profit increased as most projects in the domestic building business for which provisions for construction losses had been recorded were largely completed, increasing the contribution from highly profitable projects, and due to the sale of properties for sale in the real estate business. Net profit also benefited from an increase in gains on the sale of cross-shareholdings.
