Factors Behind Changes in Business Performance

The Device Business reported lower revenue due to declines in semiconductors and devices for televisions, office automation equipment and industrial equipment, but profit increased as the sales mix shifted toward highly profitable products through the acquisition of new projects. The Solutions Business reported higher revenue and profit as sales of a broad range of products remained solid and high-value-added projects in fields including AI expanded. Net income declined because the previous fiscal year included a gain on step acquisitions and gains on sales of investment securities decreased.

These are items the company does not state in this document. We do not leave them blank, nor fill them in from other sources or by inference.

The reasons the company gives

The company's own explanation, not something inferred from the numbers.

Operating income increased because the Device Business raised the sales mix of highly profitable products by winning new projects, while sales of a broad range of products in the Solutions Business remained solid and high-value-added projects in fields including AI expanded. Net income declined because the previous fiscal year included a gain on step acquisitions and gains on sales of investment securities decreased. The forecast for the next fiscal year remains undecided because discussions are ongoing regarding a request from a major supplier to terminate its distributor agreement, making it difficult to assess future business performance.
