Reason for the revision

Although copper prices and other factors increased in the Metals segment, net sales are expected to fall below the previous forecast due to lower sales of electrolytic copper, resulting from reduced production at the Japan-Philippines joint smelter, and the delayed start of operations at the Arqueros mine. Operating profit is expected to exceed the previous forecast because the impact of higher copper prices at the Atacama mine and improved by-product revenue from smelting are expected to exceed assumptions. Ordinary profit and profit attributable to owners of the parent are expected to exceed the previous forecast due to lower interest payments associated with the delayed start of operations at the Arqueros mine and other factors.

Previous-period resultsFiscal year ended March 2026: net sales ¥209,717 million, operating profit ¥18,826 million, ordinary profit ¥20,221 million, profit attributable to owners of the parent ¥14,033 million, earnings per share ¥178.37
Dividend forecast revisionThe interim dividend was increased to ¥38 from the previous forecast of ¥31. The year-end dividend forecast was increased to ¥37 from the previous forecast of ¥31, and the annual dividend forecast was revised to ¥75 from ¥62.

The reasons the company gives

The company's own explanation, not something inferred from the numbers.

Higher copper prices and improved by-product revenue from smelting are expected to boost profit, while lower sales of electrolytic copper, reduced production at the Japan-Philippines joint smelter, and the delayed start of operations at the Arqueros mine are expected to weigh on net sales.
