Stacked from zero: upward is an increase in cash, downward a decrease (in ¥ million). The net change represented by the dotted line is the total of three items, calculated from figures provided by the company.
In the Coal Business, revenue and profit increased due mainly to additional orders from large-volume customers, including electric power companies, secured through more effective use of coal storage capacity. The Diamond Business reported lower revenue and profit due mainly to production adjustments by major domestic customers and sluggish overseas sales. The Quarrying Business reported higher revenue and profit due to shipments for wind power generation, nuclear power-related projects and port construction, sales of higher-priced products, and an improved cost ratio resulting from higher productivity. The main reason for the decreases in ordinary profit and net income was lower dividends received from Wambo Coal in Australia.
