The reasons the company gives
The company's own explanation, not something inferred from the numbers. The company attributed the increases in revenue and profit to the expansion in scale from consolidating Seiyu, the recovery in customer traffic at existing stores, Trial's stronger pricing initiatives, prepared foods and private-label products, an improved gross margin, and cost control. At Seiyu, the company said it rapidly implemented price, product and sales-floor enhancements using Trial's expertise, as well as events, model-store rollouts and format conversions.
