The reasons the company gives
The company's own explanation, not something inferred from the numbers. The results benefited from the contribution of Seiyu following its conversion into a wholly owned subsidiary, new Trial store openings, improvements in revenue and customer numbers at existing stores, pricing initiatives, stronger prepared foods and private-label products, and cost controls focused on personnel expenses. The net income forecast was left unchanged in light of a one-off expense expected to be recorded in the fourth quarter in connection with refinancing short-term borrowings with long-term borrowings.
