Business progressed steadily, led by the agricultural materials business. In the seeds and seedlings business, exports and domestic sales of onion seeds and sales of forage crop seeds increased, but some exports of seeds for overseas markets were postponed to the fourth quarter, and the company proceeded with the disposal of lower-quality seeds. In the floriculture business, demand for flower seedlings and home gardening materials declined, but losses narrowed following a review of the product mix and improved operating efficiency. In the agricultural materials business, the main factors were growing demand for foliar herbicides and rice paddy products and earlier deliveries. The reasons the company gives
The company's own explanation, not something inferred from the numbers.Business progressed steadily, led by the agricultural materials business. In the agricultural materials business, growing demand for foliar herbicides and rice paddy products, along with earlier deliveries, contributed to higher revenue and profit. This was partly offset by the disposal of lower-quality seeds in the seeds and seedlings business, and by lower greenhouse completion revenue and weaker appetite for capital investment due to rising prices in the facilities materials business.
